Dude Tube (#30)

July 19, 2012 By: Heather

So what is it about dudes and the Tube.  You Tube that is.  Why do they like to watch RE-DONK-U-LOUS videos on You Tube or shows like Tosh.O of people puking, squeezing ginormous pimples, jumping off buildings and other stupids stunts.

What. A. Waste. Of. Time.  There are so many other things they could be doing (like getting their clothes ALL the way in the hamper…or closing cabinet doors).

Anyhoo – I’m a social media junky – but I just don’t spend a lot of time on You Tube.  When I do watch something, it is typically educational in nature – like how to apply smokey eyeliner or how to make a baby laugh hysterically.  Now these are useful and valuable videos.  Teaching new skills and making me smarter along the way.

I just don’t understand the entertainment value of watching idiots trying to light their farts on fire or seeing what happens when they eat a whole tablespoon of cinnamon at one time (don’t try that at home, by the way). Not only is it a waste of my time, but it isn’t’ even funny.  And I bet if they did a study, they’d find that brain cells are actually lost in the process of watching these silly videos.

Yet both of my boys (both the adult and child versions) can sit and watch these videos for hours, laughing so hard tears stream down their faces.  I just don’t get it.    They demand I watch them, but I have no desire.  Like… zilch, zero, nada.  I’ve expressed this explicitly.  And yet it seems they think if they keep prodding, at some point, I’ll double over laughing, like they do, when watching these lame videos.

Not. Gonna. Happen.  For Real.  So leave me alone.

Perhaps I should start demanding they watch You Tube clips of marriage proposals, child birth and scenes from multiple seasons of The Bachelor!

How well do you think that will go over?

Like a fart that doesn’t light on fire.
